AMBER - Additive Manufacturing Berlin Brandenburg

The focus of AMBER is to build a transparent ecosystem in the field of additive manufacturing in the capital region.

As the Berlin Business Development Agency, we, Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH, along with other cooperation partners, are developing a strong innovation network for actors from business and science on behalf of the Berlin Senate and under the umbrella of the Master Plan for Industrial City Berlin 2022-2026. The goal is to establish AMBER as a regional umbrella brand and to create a platform to tap available competencies as well as synergies.

With the help of test fields, showrooms and its leading conferences, Berlin is being further developed into an international platform for new production technologies - and is thus becoming a catalyst for the rapid transfer of research results into sustainable and internationally competitive innovations.

In 2022, this was supported by a special call for funding from state resources (ProFIT) amounting to more than EUR 13 million. The call focused on medical technology, bio-based materials, construction/lightweight design, and AM in space. The topics of training and further education opportunities as well as regional experimental fields and printing capacities will also be further developed under AMBER in the future.

3D printing network meeting

With the goal of exchanging information about industrial 3D printing, we organize the 3D printing network meeting in Berlin at least twice a year. These events bring together participants from companies, startups and science. The aim of this platform is to introduce new players, jointly expand strengths and competencies in the field of additive manufacturing, discuss innovative solutions and advance new business models in cooperation with industry. In addition to interesting key notes, there will also be best practice examples and innovations on the market from companies and scientific institutions from the industry that will be presented in the form of short pitches. Networking between the players from startups, industry and science is the overriding purpose of the series of events. If you are interested in participating in future events, please contact Mr. Hendrik Riemer, AMBER coordinator.

ProFit Call AMBER (Investitionsbank Berlin IBB)

Until 15.06.2022, applications for funding on the following main topics could be submitted as part of the AMBER call:

  • Personalized medical technology
  • Building and lightweight construction
  • Additive manufacturing with bio-based materials
  • Additive manufacturing in/for space

The submitted funding applications are currently undergoing the technical assessment by the IBB and will start on 01.01.2023 if the decision is positive. The individual consortia of companies and scientific institutions are supported by Berlin Partner as the central coordinating body. Funded innovations are presented in more detail after approval in order to develop synergies for possible follow-up projects.
