Battery technologies
The capital region is one of the leading locations for R&D, production and applications of battery technologies.
Storage technologies are essential for the energy and mobility transition – which is why the State of Berlin is giving high priority to building a strong economic ecosystem for battery technologies. It supports investments in battery cell production as well as in upstream and downstream processes in the value chain.
With the Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, Tesla has built its first production site in Germany here. International companies, for example BASF and Microvast, continue to prosper and invest. The region is also a hotspot for technology startups and the corporate landscape is developing rapidly.
