The Fraunhofer‑Gesellschaft is Europe's largest organization for applied research. At 74 facilities across Germany, more than 30,000 employees are conducting research in the fields of health, safety, communication, mobility, energy, and the environment. With four Fraunhofer Institutes and branch offices, Berlin is one of the most important Fraunhofer locations in Germany. At the "Digital Networking" Competence Center, the four Berlin-based Fraunhofer Institutes FOKUS, HHI, IPK, and IZM pool their expertise to develop innovative solutions for digital transformation and connectivity. Berlin is also home to the Fraunhofer‑Gesellschaft’s capital office, two Fraunhofer research groups, and the Fraunhofer Forum Berlin.
