Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Scientific Association

The Leibniz Association comprises 96 independent research institutions with approximately 22,000 employees across all scientific disciplines. They receive funding from the federal and state governments, conduct research on socially relevant topics, provide scientific infrastructure, and offer research-based services. They provide advice and information to policymakers, the academic community, the business sector, and the general public.

With 15 institutes, two branch offices, and the WGL administrative office, Berlin is the Leibniz Association’s largest location in Germany. The Leibniz Institutes in Berlin are closely linked to the city’s academic community through joint appointments with Berlin’s universities.
