The Neukölln district in the city’s southest has always been one of Berlin’s most important districts for industry.

Neukölln is linked with the Berlin Brandenburg Airport by the A113 autobahn. The airport’s construction is one of the capital region’s most important infrastructure projects and opens new opportunities for development to Neukölln, as the district near the airport.

Processes in recent years have sustainably modernized Neukölln’s industry. 

Neukölln is a modern, innovative and competitive location for successful companies, industry, trade/crafts and services. In recent years, worldwide leading companies have located here.

Companies in the traditional sectors like electrical industry, automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, control technology, the food and tobacco industries and chemical-pharmaceuticals are also found in Neukölln, including Biotronik, Berliner Glas, Med Pharma, Ferak, Kraft Foods, Deutsche Extrakt Kaffee, PUK-Werke, Braun Melsungen, Viessmann Werke and many others.


Commercial districts in Neukölln

Neukölln boasts four large commercial areas:

  • Teltowkanal Süd with approx. 35 ha
  • Grenzallee with approx. 140 ha
  • Nördliche Sonnenallee with approx. 71 ha
  • Kanalstraße with approx. 61 ha

With a total of 307 ha of commercial space, Neukölln has almost 10 % of Berlin’s industrial space as specified by the city’s industry concept.

The commercial locations provide a broad spectrum of commercial space, ranging from industrially used property to modern individual offices. 79 % of all employees in companies in commercial areas work in manufacturing industries or in the service sector.

With nearly 44 % of all employees in companies, the manufacturing industries prove their strength as the leaders in the district.
