Berlin is the third-largest airport location in Germany.
In 2021, around 10 million passengers used the airport under Corona conditions, in 2019 there were 35.6 million passengers. Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) currently operates two terminals (Terminals 1 and 2). Terminal 5 (the former Schönefeld Airport) has been temporarily taken out of service, but can be activated as soon as passenger numbers increase.
In addition to securing the long-term air traffic infrastructure for the capital region, the company's task is to develop the existing commercial airports as required.
The Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH is owned by the public sector.
