General information and locational advantages

Tempelhof-Schöneberg is one of the most interesting commercial locations in Berlin. Thanks to its proximity to the city, the government quarter and the surrounding countryside, the district has been an interesting location for companies for decades.

Technologically innovative industrials are complemented by successful handicraft enterprises and a highly developed range of qualified service providers.

Tempelhof-Schöneberg is one of the largest industrial districts in Berlin. International firms such as Daimler and Gillette have been joined by a variety of small and medium-sized companies (SMEs).

When Tempelhof Airport finally ceases operating in October 2008 the city's urban planners will be faced with the challenge of developing a site spanning 386 hectares. This immense site is roughly the size of the area from Hauptbahnhof station to Alexanderplatz, and therefore offers an outstanding city-center potential.

Attractive surroundings:

  • The traditional "Kiez" area around Bahnhofstrasse in Lichtenrade
  • KaDeWe (62,000m² selling space), Europe's largest department store
  • The Bavarian Quarter
  • Historic Schöneberg town hall

Locational advantages:

  • A good mix of sectors
  • A strong industrial base
  • Large commercial districts
  • A large selection of demarcated industrial districts and trading estates.
  • Sites available in a wide range of sizes
  • A location with good transport connections, easy access to the "Stadtring" and "Berliner Ring" ring roads
  • Excellent connections to local public transport
  • A wide-ranging and qualified working population
