Bird's-eye view: The marathon route in the virtual 3D city model

Sports enthusiasts had the opportunity to experience the 42,195 km marathon route in 3D before the race on August 22nd / 23rd, 2009. The animated tour took track and field fans on a virtual flight along the route, which passed many of the city's top attractions: Potsdamer Platz, the Victory Column, Bellevue Palace, the Reichstag, the Museum Island, and the "Unter den Linden" boulevard.

A 10km circuit led the racers past the starting line at the Brandenburg Gate four times. The fourth lap included an additional 2,195 km-long loop around Alexanderplatz. Today, you can still experience the course through the heart of the city from a bird's eye view at the BLC.
