Shared services centers are an effective cost-saving tool for internal operational tasks. Companies across the globe use shared services centers to provide customer service, contracted services and sales as well as administrative functions like accounting, HR and IT. The shared services concept is based on an approach of isolating similar financial and service processes from multiple business units and consolidating them in an economically and/or legally independent entity known as a “Shared Services Center” (SSC). Shared services centers require a cost-effective location that is attractive to highly qualified employees, offers excellent and comprehensive infrastructure and is easy to reach by various modes of transportation. Nearly 75 percent of major German companies already operate one or more shared services centers. The fact that a number of national and international companies have decided to locate their SSC's in Berlin proves that Germany's capital fulfills these criteria in an outstanding manner. Why Berlin?
As a consulting company, we help many of our customers plan and implement shared services centers. We follow the same advice we give our customers. Capgemini operates shared services centers in Berlin for various legal units of the group in Germany and even for some units in other parts of Europe. Finance & accounting and procurement are just a couple of the services provided centrally in Berlin."
